Immigrants learning English

Hello, everyone
I am Dr. Joel Floyd, and I am raising money for a very special community of learners: immigrants and or those who represent the foreign-born population here in the USA. I began English for a Lifetime Language Institute in the year 2012 to help immigrants master the English language for survival, workforce, and continuing education purposes. Coming from an English teaching background and having taught adults from various cultural backgrounds, I envisioned an institute that would help immigrants from all walks of life establish agency and become productive individuals in the USA. I was the first teacher at the institute, teaching one student from Ethiopia and one student from Mexico. Despite the early years of struggling to keep the doors of the institute open, English for a Lifetime has emerged as one of Georgia’s top English language institutes, offering both academic and vocational English programs to immigrants and families with limited English. The institute has become a sustainable educational force, helping to transform the lives of people who are often overlooked due to their limited ability to read, write, speak, and listen in English proficiently.
Purpose
Even though English for a Lifetime Language Institute provides a high-quality academic and vocational English program to immigrants, many from this population are unable to enroll and or complete their English courses because of their financial circumstances. Many earn very low -wages and struggle to make ends meet.
English for a Lifetime Language Institute is beginning a scholarship fund and asking the public and those who understand the critical need for immigrants to learn English as a second language to contribute to the fund. As a result, many individuals (non-natives) will be allowed to enroll and complete the program, obtaining the English communication skills critical to their survival, on – the job and in their quest to become productive citizens in the USA and globally.
