Immigrant Well-being Project 2020
Donation protected
COVID-19 has impacted all New Mexicans, but immigrant families have been among the hardest hit. Immigrants are essential to our economy and communities, and yet are often not eligible for stimulus, unemployment, or other forms of local, state or federal relief. We are asking for your support for current immigrant families in the Immigrant Well-being Project (IWP).
IWP is a partnership of the Transdisciplinary Research, Equity, and Engagement (TREE) Center for Advancing Behavioral Health at the University of New Mexico (UNM), Encuentro, New Mexico Dream Team, New Mexico Immigrant Law Center, and Centro Sávila. The goals of IWP are to improve the mental health and well-being of immigrant families through mutual learning and collaborative advocacy among immigrant families, UNM students, and community organizations.
IWP families and UNM students just completed a 6-month program learning together and working on a range of goals, including educational support (assistance with homework for K-12 students, tutoring for college students, defining educational/career goals), starting businesses, gaining access to health care, housing and other essential services, learning English, and building relationships and connections.
We are NOT asking for money for IWP. Instead the IWP team is working to raise funds that would go directly (100%) to immigrant families who participated in IWP this past year. In order to meet the needs of IWP families, our goal is to raise $12,000. Your donations would make a difference and help families in these difficult times to provide assistance with housing, utilities, car repairs, providing educational materials for their children, and making sure there is food on the table. It is in these times when our basic necessities cannot be taken for granted.
We are stronger together, and we ask for your help for New Mexican immigrants who are vital to strengthening our economy and communities.
Thank you so much!!!
