Immie's Edinburgh Adventure!

Hi everyone! I'm Immie, and guess what?! I'm one of the lucky few to be chosen for an ICE trip with Girlguiding North East England! I've been chosen for the International Community Experience (ICE) this summer in Edinburgh! I went to a selection weekend in September, and it was a bit scary as I didn't know anyone, but I got in! I'm so, so excited!

This amazing trip means I get to do loads of exciting stuff! We'll have a residential weekend with community action and international experiences, a community project like environmental work or research, learn about global issues, meet new friends, plan a final project, and explore Edinburgh! It's going to be brilliant!

The best thing is, it's all about letting Girl Guides like me having a chance to help our community, learning about the world, and getting ready for even bigger international adventures in the future!

Although it is a really fun opportunity, I need to raise approximately £370. The Girl Guides have asked us to raise the money ourselves, which is actually kind of fun but scary as I have to raise it all myself!

So, I'm doing lots of fundraising to raise the money. I've even started selling cakes – it was my Guide leaders' idea, and they're letting me do a bake sale at Guides too! I’ve also been doing little jobs for family and friends. But the biggest thing I'm doing is walking 26 miles around Kielder Water! That's a lot, but I’m willing to do it if that means I get to go to Edinburgh with all my newly made friends from the selection weekend. I’m doing the walk on Saturday, 10th May. Fingers crossed it will be nice weather that day!

Doing all this fundraising is actually teaching me a lot of things, too, like:
Organisational Skills: Planning cake sales, coming up with good ideas for fundraising, and keeping track of all the money (Mum's helping with that bit!).
Talking to People: Telling everyone about my trip and asking them to sponsor me (which is a bit scary sometimes!).
Never Giving Up: Even when things are hard, I'm going to keep going! Like with the massive walk!
Money Smart: Learning how to handle money properly and save up for my trip.
Being Part of the Community: Meeting loads of people and telling them all about Girl Guides.

Will you sponsor me, please? Every little bit helps, and it'll help me learn all these cool skills! And guess what? If I raise more than my approximately £370 target, I'll be donating half of the extra money to Guide Dogs! We love helping them out by fostering guide dogs regularly. We've looked after some amazing dogs, like Esmay, Pedro, Erica, and Viva! It's a charity that I care for and it also means something to me. The other half will go to the MS Centre in Leicester, where my Grandma goes for treatment. It's also a cause that means a lot to me.

My target is approximately £370 and any money you can give will be amazing! Thanks for helping me go to Edinburgh, learn all this cool stuff, and help these amazing charities!

Immie has raised an additional £200 already with sponsorship for this event and bake sales.
