Immediate Surgery To Get Cierra’s Life Back!!

Hi family and friends. I am asking for your help, and I mean it when I say ANTHING will help! As some may know my dear friend Cierra, started having frequent nose bleeds, crusting of her nasal cavity, breathing problems with her nose, the feeling of being congested all the time and constant, extreme burning pain. She realized something was really wrong and went to the doctor. Cierra has a perforated septum, or in other words, a huge hole in her nose. Your septum is what separates your right and left nostrils. Your septum is also what helps keep your nose elevated off your face. Most people are aware of the term “deviated septum”, where your septum is curved and makes it hard to breathe. Cierra has a PERFORATED septum. As you can probably imagine, that is not a good thing. She runs a very real risk of the hole not only continuing to get bigger if she doesn’t have the surgery to fix this, but of her nose collapsing. The surgery that Cierra needs is one of the most difficult surgeries an ENT faces, as far as nasal surgeries go and there are only a handful of ENT doctors in the US that are proficient at this type of surgery; within a 90% success rate. A lot of ENTs won’t even attempt to do the surgery she needs because of the low success rate. Cierra has found an ENT who specializes in this surgery and has a very high success rate. She is confident that she can not only close the hole in Cierra’s nose but will be able to sustain maximum blood flow effectively which is crucial to a successful surgery, so that it won’t re-perforate. This surgery will cost upwards of $60,000 plus a lengthy recovery time. Even with insurance it will be over $20,000 and there is no option for payment plans with this specialist. This hole will not close on its own, and the hole will only continue to get larger over time which will eventually cause her nose to collapse.
Cierra is the most loving, caring hard working mother, wife, friend and so much more. She would give the shirt off her back even if it meant causing frostbite if she needed to. She is always there to take care of others when needed. If you ask something of her, she does it, no questions asked. She moved out of her home state of Alaska once her husband got out of the miliary 5 years ago, to move to his home state of Massachusetts to be closer to his family. Her son Liam moved to Massachusetts two years ago, to live with her and her husband after staying back in Alaska with his Dad. Liam began having issues at school being that he is such a smart kid. School wasn’t very challenging for him, so he started to act out. Cierra decided to start homeschooling him last year which has significantly changed Liam for the better. He is thriving now but the offset to this is Cierra can’t work as much as she used to. She works two part time jobs around her son’s school schedule, so that she can continue homeschooling him while her husband works full time. This required surgery is coming at a very challenging time to say the least and has become a huge stressor on the family since her painful conditions have consumed and taken over her day-to-day life and has slowed her down. As we all know life doesn’t stop for us when something like this happens. If you know Cierra, you know that she has been through a lot in her life, but she has always managed to keep her head up and keep pushing forward. She has always been very independent and self sufficient and hates asking anyone for help. She doesn’t like to be looked at as weak because she is anything but that! I had to persistently ask her four times before she finally agreed to let me make this fund for her. She is very optimistic and charismatic which, is what I’ve always loved most about her. She has a way of always looking at the glass half full instead of half empty, and to say she is a go getter is an understatement. If something is in her way, she doesn’t wait for the door to open, she kicks that door down and I know this door isn’t going to be any different. She is one of the strongest women I know but these symptoms have completely consumed her life. As we approach the colder months, the hole in her nose is becoming drier and more crusted, and she is having more nose bleeds than ever. She must flush her nose multiple times a day just to keep it moist and hydrated. She lives in fear every day, that her nose is going to collapse.

We are wanting to reiterate that ANYTHING will help her. No donation is too small. And if you are not able to donate, please share this so that it can reach others who might be able to help. Also, please pray for her because God does amazing things, and we are praying for Him to help her find a way to get this surgery. Let’s help Cierra get her life back so she can keep her focus on her son and her family.

P.S. - The picture is of a patient getting the surgery that she so desperately needs.

A sincere thank you from Cierra, her family who are helping as much as they can, and from me and her friends.
