Immediate help required for drunk driving victim
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Ammul. We are setting up this Go Fund me page for my friend Vick Walia, with assistance from Vicky's brother Vishu and our other friends.
A few weeks ago, Vicky, who works as an agent with Westjet, was helping a friend to replace a tire on the side of the road, when a drunk driver hit their car. The impact was severe, and Vicky was left with a traumatic brain injury (TBI) and several other severe injuries.
The accident has left him with a severe TBI that has impacted his cognitive abilities and motor functions. He's now in the hospital, and undergoing extensive medical treatment for his condition. The doctors say that he will need extensive neuro based rehabilitation program for his speedy recovery.
The worst part is that all of this could have been prevented. The drunk driver who caused the accident was completely at fault, and Vicky is now paying the price for his reckless behavior. It breaks my heart to think about the pain and suffering he's going through, and the fact that his future has been irreparably altered by someone else's thoughtless actions.
Unfortunately, Vicky's injuries were severe, and he's had to undergo multiple brain craniectomies to relieve pressure on his brain and still got one more to go in next couple of weeks. He is still in the early stages of his recovery and has a long way to go. He's now in need of neurological rehabilitation, which will help him regain his motor functions and cognitive abilities.
We know that with the right treatment and support, he can make a full recovery. But he'll need all the help he can get to make that happen. Although the intiial treatement was covered but insurance, the next steps and parts of the long recovery ahead will not be. The immediate medical needs (over the next few weeks) will require about US$185,000 that are not covered by insurance.
At this point it is uncertain how long Vicky needs to fully recover and carry on with his life. As you can imagine the long road ahead requires additinoal funds for treatement and income replacement / supplement. The funds collected through this campaign will also help him through that phase. Your generosity will help him access the care he needs to regain his independence and rebuild his life.
We ask that you share his story with your friends and family, and help us raise awareness about the dangers of drunk driving. Together, we can make a difference in Vicky's life and help him overcome this tragedy.
Your support means the world to us, and we appreciate any help you can offer. Together, we can help Vicky get the care he needs and deserves and work towards a brighter future for him.
