Hi. I'm Heather, David Jacks' sister. Last night, around 11pm in Old East Dallas, Texas a truck drove through my brother's home, narrowly missing him. The truck plowed through his home as he lay in bed watching television. He escaped with only his phone and his dog, Presley. The truck didn't just go through the front of the home; it went straight through until finally reaching a stop in the backyard. My brother cannot enter the house as it is starting to collapse (the fire marshall has deemed it unsafe). Therefore he has no essentials, no clothing, nothing. He escaped wearing shorts and was kindly offered a T-shirt and a pair of slightly too big shoes by his neighbor. A friend loaned him money for a hotel room for a night, but this will be a long road. We are prayerful that the driver of the truck will be okay as he suffered severe injuries, but we are also hoping to help my brother get back on his feet. He was a renter, so there is no homeowners insurance to rely upon. He will need accomodations (deposits add up quickly), clothes, furniture, etc. He is obviously in a state of shock and hoping that before the home is demolished, he might be allowed to retrieve sentimental items such as our late father's pictures, etc. My hope is to help him as he walks this long road to find a new home for him and Presley. And to help him feel loved and cared for by his family, friends, and community as he copes with such a traumatic event. We are so grateful the car didn't hit the brick fireplace in the home, which would have likely caused the house to completely fall on top of David. We are so grateful the car wasn't two feet closer to his bed. If you know David, you know he is such a giving human being. He is always willing to show up and help out yet never asks for help when he's the one in need. I love my brother immensely and trust that God will provide.
