Two years ago I was diagnosed with an eye condition called Keratoconus, it causes the cornea to thin and bulge outwards into a cone shape. Some symptoms are blurred vison, sensitivity to light, and legal blindness if it goes untreated. I was able to get my left eye treated back in 2019 but unfortunately, my right eye has now progressed far enough and requires surgery as well. 

Keratoconus cannot be cured, but the surgery can slow the progression of the disease. As a current graduate student the surgery is not something myself or my family can afford on our own so we are asking for help. My current surgery date is June 23rd and at that time my family and I need to have $5,500 because the procedure is not covered by my insurance or we will have to reschedule my surgery and risk the condition progressing further.

Hace dos años fue diagnosticada con una condición de ojo que se llama Queratocono, cual hace que la córnea se adelgace y se abulte hacia afuera en forma de cono. Algunos síntomas son visión borrosa, sensibilidad a la luz y ceguera legal si no se trata. Pude tratar mi ojo izquierdo en 2019, pero desafortunadamente, mi ojo derecho ahora ha progresado lo suficiente y también requiere cirugía.

El Queratocono no se puede curar, pero la cirugía puede retrasar la progresión de la enfermedad. Como estudiante de posgrado actual, la cirugía no es algo que yo o mi familia podamos pagar por nuestra cuenta, por lo que estamos pidiendo ayuda. La fecha de mi cirugía actual es el 23 de junio y en ese momento mi familia y yo necesitamos tener $5,500 porque el procedimiento no está cubierto por mi seguro o tendremos que reprogramar mi cirugía y arriesgarnos a que la condición progrese más.
