We are fundraising on behalf of our dear Imani Murray, who is pursuing her lifelong dream of becoming a physician.
Imani has spent her life in service to others. You may know her as a big sister, an instructor, a mentor, a leader, a tutor, a researcher, an advocate, manager, a speaker, a local community volunteer—even a party planner. No matter the role, Imani has always shown dedication, creativity, resilience, and compassion, especially towards those who are most vulnerable.
After years of hard work and applying to Canadian medical schools success, Imani applied to U.S medical schools and was finally accepted! This is a dream come true, but it comes with a daunting financial challenge. The costs of tuition and initial entry fees are much higher in the U.S., and her fundraising goal of $100,000 will help secure her spot, cover tuition, and support her transition for the first year.
Migrating from Jamaica to Canada in 2013, Imani has consistently been a beacon of excellence and hard work. She graduated in 2023 with a Bachelor of Science in Physiology and a Certificate in Biomedical Research from the University of Alberta. Along the way, she was honored with awards such as the RBC Future Launch Scholarship for Black Youth and the Governor General’s Medal. Beyond academics, she has dedicated herself to uplifting her community — advocating for equitable healthcare, teaching lifesaving skills, mentoring youth, and serving her church community.
Despite her hard work, the financial barrier to attending medical school in the U.S. is overwhelming. Every contribution, no matter the size, will bring Imani closer to her dream.
This is not charity — it’s an investment. Every dollar given helps build not only Imani’s dream, but a legacy of hope in healthcare for generations to come. By supporting her today, you are planting the seed for a future physician, a leader, and an advocate who will dedicate her life to serving, healing, and uplifting entire communities.
