If you know me, you probably know that I survived colon cancer in 2017 and am now surviving breast cancer. The surgery for my colon cancer in 2017 was probably the hardest surgery I’ve ever had and I’ve had a lot. The recovery was brutal to be honest. I hoped and prayed I would never hear “ you have cancer” again. I was so excited to be so close to my 5 yr survival time, when my chance of recurrence would drop to only 6%! That’s when I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I noticed a change exactly 1 day before my annual mammogram. Devastating. There was a lot of bad news at every follow up visit after more and more testing. This was a mean and scary breast cancer.
Mary and Marc were new parents to my first grandbaby, Dane Edward. This diagnosis was not at all acceptable.
Praise God, I had amazing medical facilities and a talented, caring health professional team. And praise God, I also was blessed with family, friends and so many resources to help keep me sane and as strong as possible. The American Cancer Society is one of those resources. Gratefully, as I said, I had so many prayer warriors and family members ready to take care of me. But so very many cancer patients don’t have that. And that is a very, very sad thing.
I’ve decided to participate in the “Walk 62 Miles in July” this year to do my small part. I plan to post how far I walk each day.
I’m very grateful for donations I might receive in any amount. When this challenge is over, I will be fully transparent in showing here, how the money was transferred to the American Cancer Society. Sadly, I know Go Fund Me accounts aren’t always honest. This one is from my heart and totally honest. Thank you!
