I'm trying to get my life back after the disaster

Hello, I’m Carmen. My boyfriend and I live in Paiporta, one of the areas hit hardest by the recent DANA disaster in Valencia on October 29. In a matter of hours, our lives were turned upside down. We’ve lost so much: our jobs, our cars, and parts of our home that held countless memories. The Spanish government aid falls short, and our insurance won’t cover the damages. It’s overwhelming, and there are moments we don’t know where to turn.

We’re reaching out because we need help to rebuild—step by step, piece by piece. Our dream is to regain a sense of normalcy, to have hope again, and to start over with the essentials we’ve lost. One of our biggest needs right now is a car; both of ours were destroyed, and without them, it’s so hard to move forward.
