I'm Swimming 5 Miles for American Cancer Society
Tax deductible
As many of you know in summer 2020, I lost Jim to colon cancer after a two and a half year cancer journey ( I hate the word "fight" when it comes to cancer as it implies that the weak die from cancer. Jim was anything but weak).
What you may not know is that I'm a lifelong swimmer. I stopped swimming when Covid hit in March 2020 and grief kept me away. It's only in the past year that I've finally returned to a regular swimming practice. Exercise restores me to myself and swimming is a meditation for me. I've improved my distance from 600 yards per swim in the fall to 1750 this past week. That's 70 laps in the pool! One mile of laps equals 1760 yards!
My goal is to swim 5 miles to help the American Cancer Society create a world without cancer. It takes a village, and together, we can turn the tide against cancer.
