I’m running the GNR for WCDS!
This September, I’m taking on the Great North Run and raising money for the Women’s Cancer Detection Society - a cause that’s really close to my heart.
Cancer has affected my family in a big way. We carry a cancer gene, and my mam has been through her own tough battle with it on more than one occasion. Seeing what she went through and how strong she was has made me want to do something to help others going through the same thing.
The Women’s Cancer Detection Society is a local charity based in Gateshead at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. The WCDS carried out pioneering work in breast cancer screening by running a charity screening service for nearly 20 years. In 1988 the NHS Breast Screening Programme was established and the Charity has since given support by providing equipment and grants for research. The charity focuses on early diagnosis, which can make a massive difference in outcomes. The work they do genuinely saves lives.
If you’re able to donate, I’d be so grateful. Every little bit helps and will keep me going through all those miles!
Thanks so much for the support!
