In April 2026, I’ll be taking on the challenge of a lifetime — the Schneider Electric Paris Marathon!
It also marks 20 years since I ran my very first marathon, so this one feels extra special. But more importantly, I’m running to remember and honour two people who meant so much to me: my sister-in-law, Angela Ollier, and my very good friend, Paul Gornall.
Angela was the auntie our children never truly got the chance to know. She passed away before our son was born, and while our daughter met her as a toddler, she was only 18 months old when Angela died and has no real memories of her. Even so, Angela has left a lasting mark on our lives, and she is deeply missed. By running this marathon, I want to keep her memory alive and turn that loss into something positive — helping others in her name.
Paul was a true friend — someone I was lucky to have in my life. He is still very much missed, and I’ll be carrying his memory with me too on every step of this journey.
Both Angela and Paul’s lives ended far too soon through suicide, and running this marathon is my way of carrying their memory forward while helping others who may be struggling.
That’s why I’m raising money for Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM).
One in five of us will have suicidal thoughts at some point in our lives.
Every single day in the UK, 18 people die by suicide. These aren’t just numbers — they’re mums and dads, brothers, sisters, sons, daughters, partners and friends.
CALM is here to make sure no one feels like suicide is their only option. They provide life-saving support and give people the skills to help prevent suicide — work that couldn’t be more important.
Every mile I run through Paris will be for Angela, for Paul, and for all the families who know the pain of losing someone to suicide.
If you’re able to support me, whether with a donation or by sharing this page, I’d be so grateful. Every contribution — big or small — will help CALM continue their vital work and bring hope to those who need it most.
Thank you for being part of this journey. Together, we can help people find a reason to live, not a reason to leave.
