In April 2026, I will be running the Paris Marathon to raise money for CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably) and help to increase awareness around mental health and suicide prevention.
This run is in memory of my cousin, India Porter, who we tragically lost to suicide in August 2025. This was a devastating shock to me and my family, and it’s profoundly changed how I understand the importance of mental health support and suicide prevention.
One in four of us will experience suicidal thoughts at some point in our lives. CALM’s mission is to help people end their misery, not their lives. They do this by providing direct support to anyone in crisis through their helpline and webchat, while also challenging the silence and stigma that surrounds mental health and suicide. Most importantly, they empower people to have those difficult – and potentially life-saving – conversations with their friends, family, colleagues or even strangers.
By putting myself through marathon training again, I’ll be tested both mentally and physically – but it’s only a fraction of what people living with mental health struggles face every day. Through this challenge, I hope to raise awareness of what they go through and support CALM’s vital work to ensure that no one feels suicide is their only option.
I’d be hugely grateful for any donation, no matter the amount – every contribution helps CALM continue their incredible, life-saving work to help end suicide.
Thank you for your support
