I’m a young adult raising my 3-year-old brother on my own, and I’m asking for help so I can keep us safe and stable.
For the past few years, I’ve been the main caregiver for my little brother because our mom is no longer able to take care of him. She used to be stable and working, but after losing her job in 2020, everything changed. Her mental health declined, she refuses treatment, and she spends most days overwhelmed, angry, and disconnected from reality.
She hasn’t worked in years, doesn’t buy groceries, doesn’t help with bills, and is not involved in my brother’s life at all. The responsibility of raising him has completely fallen on me.
I love him more than anything, but being this young and trying to provide everything on my own is incredibly difficult. I’m trying to keep him safe, fed, warm, and happy — but I’m struggling.
Right now we really need help with:
• Food
• Winter clothes
• Daycare so I can work and build stability for us
I don’t like asking for help, but I want to give him the childhood he deserves — one with safety, warmth, and love, not chaos and uncertainty.
Any support, even the smallest amount, would mean more than I can ever explain. Thank you for reading.
