Hello my name is Brenda and I’m raising funds to help me get back on both feet. After a routine knee revision in 2024 and in 2025 I had 5 surgeries on my knee. The 6th surgery is when my life took an unexpected and devastating turn.

Just six weeks after surgery, I developed a severe infection that quickly progressed to sepsis. My condition became life-threatening, and I was hospitalized as doctors worked urgently to save my life. Despite 5 operations and multiple procedures—including washouts and antibiotic treatments—they were unable to stop the infection.

The only option left was to amputate my right leg above the knee.

At 64 years old, this has been a life-changing loss. Overnight, I went from being independent to facing challenges with even the simplest daily tasks. I had to learn to walk again after not walking for 2 years. But I am determined not to let this define the rest of my life.

My goal is to walk again—and to regain my independence, including being able to drive and get back to work.

To do that, I’m told I need a microprocessor-controlled prosthetic leg. This type of prosthetic will give me the stability and safety I need, especially after everything my body has been through. Unfortunately, the cost is approximately $57,000, which aren’t fully covered by insurance and is far beyond what I can afford.

In addition to the prosthetic, I am facing many other expenses:

* Mobility equipment (wheelchair, walker, crutches, cane)

* Proper sleeve or socket for the stump

* Home modifications, including a upgrade with the wheelchair ramp, bathroom rails etc.

* Ongoing medical and prescription costs

* Rehabilitation and therapy

* Driving Assessment, lessons and driving test, * Vehicle conversion for the left leg.

Every contribution, no matter the amount, will go directly toward helping me rebuild my life and regain my independence.
