I’m raising funds for a refugee football tournament taking place in Hackney at the end of the month.
Sixteen teams from across London will be taking part, made up of refugees and asylum seekers from countries including Sudan, Afghanistan and Eritrea. There’s already a huge amount of excitement about the tournament.
Football is a big part of their lives. For many, the regular sessions are the highlight of their week, but they particularly love the opportunity to play competitive matches, represent their teams and take part in tournaments.
Many of the players are struggling to get by. In particular, many asylum seekers are not permitted to work, making it difficult to cover even basic costs. We’re raising money to cover transport to and from the tournament and to provide everyone with a hot, hearty meal at the end of the day.
Please consider supporting the tournament, however much you can. Your contribution will help make the day possible and, more importantly, give 16 teams the chance to play, compete, connect and create some happy memories together.
Thank you for your support!
