A week from today, I will turn 40 on the summit of Mt Kinabalu, 4,095m above sea level, tallest mountain in South East Asia. For comparison, Mt Kosciuszko , Australia’s tallest mountain sits at 2,228m. The four us (Ben, Uma, Cass and myself) have been training since January and I will share some of the training stats over this week.
With a week to go, I’ve finally managed to set this fundraiser for it to be an extra special birthday if you can help out by giving a donation to benefit Cancer Council Victoria, and help make an impact.
I have been incredibly blessed for an amazing 40 years on this earth (what? 40 ? that’s crazy) and in a show of gratitude, it’s my turn to return the favour with a helping hand.
I am raising funds for Cancer Council with this climb. I’m a closet medical research nerd (yes I read up on peer reviewed research papers and exoeriments) and take my hat off to all the scientists who dedicate their lives to understanding the causes of the cell mutations resulting in cancer. Cancer has affected every person I know in some shape or form. Some manage to get through the big fight and others don’t quite make it.
This is the one disease I would cure (along with Alzheimer’s) if I had a super power. Well friends, this is my super power, using this climb and my vast network of friends to help make a difference to cancer research.
Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me. This is for each of them who have been on the journey - Serene Neo, Jim Brown, Kevin Prest, Jean’s dad, Phil’s dad, Anna Marinelli and the list goes on…
Much love and light x
