I’m Jeremiah

Hello! Thank you for taking a look at I'm Jeremiah! I’m Jeremiah is an upcoming student film from Cleveland State University’s School of Film and Media Arts. It’s an original Musical/Drama with a projected running time of 10-12 minutes. The Logline is as follows:

Following the dissolution of his band and fallout with his father, up-and-coming music star Jeremiah Smith finds himself drinking at a small-town tavern. Here, he must reconcile with his past and become the person he wants to be.

BRIEF SYNOPSIS

The film starts in a flashback: Jeremiah and his partner/bandmate Mary are waiting in their Green Room. They’ve reached their dream; they’re waiting to go perform at the biggest venue they’ve ever been to. Jeremiah’s mind, however, is focused on something else entirely: his estranged father. In the present, Jeremiah finds himself at a small-town tavern during the day. Here, with the help of the Bartender and some of the midday patrons, Jeremiah looks inside himself for the answers he needs to be the person he wants to be.

WHY NOW?

Simply put, movie musicals have the power to inspire and the ability to make you smile. We as a team feel that everyone could use a pick-me-up as we stroll along the second year of the COVID-19 pandemic. Having had our educations disrupted by the pandemic ourselves also makes I’m Jeremiah the chance to channel all that’s built up inside of us into something positive, hopefully bringing a smile to people as we go through these dark times.

HOW WE'LL USE THE MONEY

Making a musical is a large undertaking and subsequently, so is gathering the funds necessary to make one. From location rentals to banjo smashing, here is a brief breakdown of where your money will go:

Craft Services - We have 6 shoot days so we want to make sure we have enough money to properly feed all of our cast and crew!

At least two banjos - There is a big moment in the film where Jeremiah smashes a banjo on the ground. We’re hoping two banjos will be enough.

Vocal lessons for our lead actor, Jeffery Rucker

Payment to musicians - We are outsourcing some of our musicians who will play instruments for the song. We want to make sure we can pay them if payment is required.

Renting one of our shooting locations

Production Design - We want to make sure our Art Department has enough money to spend on set design, costumes, and props. Production design is important in any film, but even more so in a musical.
