I'm going to Ukraine again. Need help with cost
Donation protected
Hi,
I'm Mickelmas.
Since the start of the war in Ukraine, I've been fund raising to help local NGO's in Ukraine that help sick, disabled and displaced Ukrainians.
Last year I spent some time with a few in various parts of Ukraine.
I covered all expenses from my own pocket (Flights, transfers, in country travel, food, insurance, and accommodation)
This year, I'm still fund raising for a NGO separately who are helping displaced Ukrainians. Those funds are being delt with separate to this personal fund raiser.
The costs involved in getting there and staying there to help out have increased significantly. I'm on track to have around £1,200 by the time I plan on going, this means I'm about £800 short. I, personally, can only go between the months of November and February.
The NGO I am hoping to spend time with, 'The Phoenix' , have managed to secure a large disused building (see photo above) in Lviv Oblast.
There's an awful lot of renovation and redesign work needed in order to turn the building into a home for 400-600 people. Not to mention needing 600 beds & mattresses, bedding, washing machines, kitchen equipment, furniture - such as dressers, wardrobes, chairs, settees etc. Basically everything you need in a home for that many people.
Should you all be generous enough to donate more than what I need, the remaining funds will be handed over to help with the purchasing of the basic items required for this community home.
This building is set within 13 acres of land which they are hoping to farm so they can be as self sufficient as possible. The community home will offer long term safe secure homes along with mental and rehabilitation healthcare for the residents that will eventually reside there.
