Hello to you all,
I never thought I'd feel the need to ask the general public if they could help me but I am desperate to raise funds for my disabled friend Mandy.
This gofundme page is being created to ask for financial help, donations of equipment, or hands on labour and materials to enable Mandy to have the disabled equipment, security items, and other items that I feel she would benefit from. I want to help her so she can live there feeling safer and with suitable and appropriate products than she does now.
Mandy's existing equipment is of poor quality, old, or broken. She is 52 years old and 52 kg in weight, and 5 foot 2 inches tall if supported to stand upright.
She was very recently the victim in her home, at knifepoint for a sustained attack, and has suffered further injuries from this. It means she cannot move without severe pain and to get upstairs has to go up each step on her bottom. I know she is desperately in need of a stairlift and comfortable wheelchairs that work properly so when she gets upstairs she can get into a wheelchair instead of shuffling along the floor on her bottom. A stairlift would vastly improve her wellbeing.
Mandy was a very strong woman, but this attack has changed her and made her frightened of every knock on the door, cars passing, people near the house. I really want Mandy to feel safer and am seeking help to do this. I am saddened to see Mandy feeling vulnerable and scared indoors and outdoors and am really worried that she will become too frightened to leave the house.
Are there any businesses that are willing or able to donate any of the following items or provide their labour and/or materials for any of the jobs that I would like to be done for Mandy. Or if you could just spare a little and support her via my gofundme page.
Stairlift (that follows the turn in the stairs)
Electric wheelchair
Self propelled wheelchair
Personal panic alarm
House alarm
Security lights/sensors/camera
Ramps for the back door exit
Flagging to widen the pathway so the wheelchair fits
Decking to make it easy to navigate in the garden area
A secure back gate
Creating a low access work surface or raised floor to enable me to use my appliances and surface for chopping and preparing food (like a breakfast bar)
Hand rails, grab rails
Larger bathroom so there is room for her and her wheelchair
Electric bath lift
The council have said they could possibly move Mandy into a multi storey 1 bedroom flat but I know her quality of life and mental health will severely be affected by a move to such accommodation.
Please, please help me if you can. A small gesture from you or your business could really help her, and a big gesture even moreso.
I thank you now for taking the time to read this.
