This October, I’m taking on the challenge of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro to raise money for the NICU at Jessops Hospital in Sheffield – the incredible team who saved my son Marley’s life.
When Marley was born in September 2024, he needed 24/7 specialist neonatal care due to a severe brain injury due to birth complications at another hospital. He was taken by ambulance to Jessops - at just a few hours old - in order to give him any chance of survival.
Those early days were terrifying as a parent, but the staff Jessops were unbelievable - for Marley, his Mum and myself. Their care, compassion and expertise gave Marley the best possible chance to survive and to become the amazing boy he is now, and I will forever be grateful to them.
I wanted to do something meaningful to give back. Climbing Kilimanjaro will be one of the toughest things I’ve ever done, but it feels small compared to what the NICU teams do for families every single day and absolutely nothing in comparison to the fight that Marley Leaver gave in the first few weeks of his life.
Every donation will go to Sheffield Hospitals Charity to support Jessops NICU – helping to fund vital equipment, enhance care for babies, and support families going through one of the hardest times of their lives.
If you’re able to donate, share, or even just send some encouragement, it genuinely means the world. Thank you for helping me say thank you to the people who saved my son’s life.
