These are my hands.
Not long ago, they were writing code, taking chemistry exams, sketching art, and annotating data to survive. Now they’re cracked, dry, and sore — because when you’re living day to day, lotion isn’t in the budget. Neither is housing.
My name is Jennifer Hearell. I’m a graduate student just an week away from my thesis defense and finishing my master’s degree in Chemistry. I’ve survived homelessness, shelters, abandonment, and chronic illness — all while maintaining a GPA most people wouldn’t believe possible under these circumstances.
But right now, I am in immediate danger.
I live with multiple serious medical conditions, including Type 1 diabetes, heart issues, and chronic kidney disease. These are life-threatening without stable shelter, refrigeration for insulin, or access to rest.
I have no family. No car. No safe place to go.
Right now, I have $50.00 to my name — and no way to secure housing, finish my thesis defense, or even keep my medication safe in the heat.
This isn’t about comfort. This is about survival.
If I can raise even a few hundred dollars, I can stay somewhere safe, defend my thesis remotely from Denver, and finally step into the future I’ve fought for.

Why help?
Because I’ve done everything right — and still ended up here.
Because I’m not giving up.
Because I am fighting to stay alive.
Your support could literally keep me off the street — and out of the hospital — in the final stretch of a battle I should never have had to fight alone.
If you can help, even a little, you’re not just giving me shelter.
You’re keeping me alive.
Thank you.
