ILY, BYE - Short Film
Donation protected
Hi friends! If you're reading this, there's a good chance we know each other, but in case we are currently strangers... my name is Taylor James and I am a director/writer/retired backup dancer. This is the fundraiser for my first narrative short film, "I LOVE YOU, BYE".
I have spent the last several years directing music videos and commercials for various beauty and fashion brands and am excited to venture into the world of narrative with my first-ever comedy short. The film stars MEGAN STALTER (HBO Max's HACKS) and KANOA GOO (ABC's The Rookie).
I am aiming to raise $10,000 to produce this short, with the money going to pay for LOCATIONS, EQUIPMENT/GEAR RENTALS, CREW, POST PRODUCTION, and FILM FESTIVAL SUBMISSIONS. Any donation would be extremely helpful - even if it's just a dollar! Every little bit is so appreciated.
Thank you so much for your investment and support!
Now a bit about the film:
STORY
I LOVE YOU, BYE follows Siobhan, a socially anxious mess who can't seem to keep a job. With the help of her best friend, Gary, she gets the interview of a lifetime with his boss, Mr. Litchfield. When her call to schedule the interview goes to voicemail, Siobhan panics and leaves a series of unhinged messages. Not wanting to lose the opportunity, she embarks on a chaotic mission to delete the voicemails herself...
INSPIRATION AND LOOK
Films like PROMISING YOUNG WOMAN, JUNO and YOUNG ADULT are great references for both aesthetic and tone, fusing real-world grit with a heightened color palette and stylized production design. I have always gravitated toward stories with deeply flawed and dynamic female leads who don’t need to fit into any “acceptable” mold in order to be loved by audiences. Siobhan is one of those characters. A bit of a mess, yet deeply human and loveable.
