I LOVE NEW YORK at The Tank NYC

Donation protected
The Tank NYC is working with The Varsity Theatre Company to produce a five performance run of I LOVE NEW YORK: a found text american dream, and the producing team is graciously asking for your financial support. The Tank is an amazing incubator of creative endeavors and hasbeen generous enough to provide the performance space for free. However, as producers, paying our Actors, Designers and Stage Managers what they deserve is at the forefront of our mission. We, therefore, come to you to ask for your support in raising money to cover their salaries, as well as the purchase of materials for sets, props and costumes, and some of the everyday expenses to go along with producing theatre in NYC.

We thank you in advance for your support and guarantee you that anything at all you're able to give will be much appreciated!

Most importantly, we would love for you to come see the show! Info on our team and how to by tickets can be found below:

I LOVE NEW YORK: a found text american dream

I Love New York explores modern anxiety and the quest for external validation by juxtaposing material from TripAdvisor.com and Ellis Island immigrant interviews. Laughs are followed by questions: “Am I that revealing online?” “Is my anxiety that high?” “Is the fact that I’ve forgotten the question and am questioning my anxiety proof I have anxiety?” I Love New York gives Americans from all over the country and immigrants from all around the world the opportunity to tell you what The American Dream looks like for them.

The Varsity Theatre Company is a Brooklyn based collaboration formed with the intent of creating work that stimulates the modern audience through detailed exploration of characters and their humanity. Believing that the political is personal and that philosophies are often defined by social interactions, The Varsity seeks to engage with the large, sweeping questions of our society from the ground up through developing new work and generating new interpretations of existing texts. Central to The Varsity’s mission is its focus on experimenting with and pushing the boundaries of how theatre uses visceral elements - sound, movement, duration, etc. - to replicate human emotion and the human experience.
