IllumiNative: amplifying Native voices in media.
Donation protected
Dear Family & Friends,
As you may or may not know, I work in the entertainment industry. Representation is a powerful force for aspiring creatives, producers, executives, etc. Furthermore, the stories Hollywood chooses to tell, and how they choose to tell them, plays a role in how people understand and empathize with diverse communities. Thus, for the community sector of my job, I have selected to fundraise for IllumiNative, a Native women-led organization that empowers and engages Native people to share their stories. I will also be leading a research project on Indigenous people in lead roles across TV and streaming. Hollywood needs more Native voices and characters to increase the authentic representation and inclusion of diverse storytelling in film and television. This fight is close to my heart, and I want to help demand change and investment in Indigenous and Native storytellers; and increase opportunities to include Indigenous and Native creatives, characters, and talent in all facets of the industry.
All donations go directly to the organization. All donations help aspiring Native filmmakers become career filmmakers & provide Native voices with more opportunities to access the entertainment landscape. All donations help Native artists and thought leaders in pop culture, media, and social justice to advance new narratives for Native communities that can transform the hearts and minds that impact Native experiences.
