<가나의 두 마을에 거주하는 아이들>
We are members of a non-profit organization called 'BECOM'. A cohort of Korean graduate students, residing the greater New York area or South Korea, began to work collaboratively with a local Ghanaian, Adotey Hoffman (also our coordinator), to launch an education project that will benefit two rural villages, namely Toligu and Gbali, in Ghana Africa.
These places are so remote and isolated that even Google map has a hard time locating the areas.
저희는 '비컴'이라는 비영리 단체를 운영하고 있는 회원들입니다. 뉴욕 지역과 한국에 거주하고 있는 한국 대학원생들끼리 모여서 가나 현지인, Adotey Hoffman (단체 코디네이터)과 협력적으로 가나의 마을인, 톨리구와 그발리, 두 비도시 지역에 교육적 프로젝트를 통한 지원을 시작하게 됐습니다.

Our organization aims to provide financial support and educational services (in the long run) to improve the educational quality not only in the two villages, but throughout many rural schools. We focused initially on enhancing the facilities within the villages and started building schools, as it obviously seemed to be the most fundamental need. One of our members initiated this project and has fully funded the construction of two schools in Toligu and Gbali. We, as an organization, hope to provide further educational services and help in a longitudinal term.
저희 단체는 두 마을을 시작점으로, 가나의 더 많은 비도시 지역에 금전적 지원 및 교육적 서비스 개선에 힘을 쓰려고 합니다. 처음에는 교육적 시설 건축에 초점을 두고 학교 빌딩의 건립을 목적으로 프로젝트를 진행하였습니다. 저희 멤버들 중 한 분이 프로젝트를 시작하여 두 마을의 학교 완공을 작년에 보게 되었습니다. 저희는 단체로서, 더욱 더 많은 교육적 서비스를 제공하고 장기적 후원 및 지원할 수 있는 체계를 구축하길 희망합니다.

After the completion of the two schools built in Toligu and Gbali in 2014, we have set up a facebook page in the hope that many people will join us in this wonderful project and have an ongoing interest, at least.

This fundraising event titled 'ILLUMINATE GHANA with SOLAR LAMPS' is created in the purpose of following up on the children and show our continuous efforts and attention through meaningful events that will increase awareness to these schools, as we strive to continuously support the schools in many aspects. Hopefully, we are aiming to provide a solar powered lamp to each of the 200 children living in these two villages, Toligu and Gbali, to ensure that they fulfill their passion to learn.
이번 기금모금 행사 '가나에 희망의 빛을'를 통하여 아이들에게 지속적 지원을 약속하는 의미뿐만 아니라 꾸준한 관심을 표시하고 이런 학교들에 대한 인식 고취를 통하여 다방면으로 학교들을 후원하고자 합니다. 이번 행사를 통하여 저희 단체는 두 마을에 있는 200명의 아이들이 배움에 대한 열정을 충족시킬 수 있도록 아이들에게 각각 태양열 램프를 전달할 계획입니다.

The two villages have no electricity in their daily living, so our children are limited with their availability to spend more time on studying or reading. We feel that the lamps will be invaluable to the community. We have already asked permission from the Ghanaian collaborator and elderly from the villages to send these lamps. They agreed with enthusiasm that these are greatly needed for their children in the educational and home settings.
두 마을에는 전기가 공급되지 않아서 아이들은 저녁 시간을 공부하거나 책 읽는데 투자하기 어렵다고 합니다. 그런 뜻에서 우리는 이 전등들이 이 공동체에 큰 도움이 되리라 생각됩니다. 이미 마을의 어르신, 부모님, 그리고 가나의 코디네이터의 허락을 받은 상태로 기금모금 행사를 진행합니다. 그들은 모두 한마음으로 이 램프들이 아이들의 교육적 환경에 꼭 필요하다고 입을 모아 말합니다.

We have applied for a grant making foundation with WakaWaka (http://us.waka-waka.com/), and our fundraising event was accepted to be suitable for the Sun Sharing Alliance program. This gives us a reduced rate for each lamp (15 euro/lamp), however, we will need to include tax and shipping fee when sending them to the children. We are approximating a price of $25 for a lamp to be safely in the hands of a child in the villages.
When we reach the goal of $5000, we will send off the 200 lamps altogether to Ghana.
