URGENT FUNDS FOR HOUSING! EVICTED DURING PANDEMIC!

My name is Loralyn Peterson. On august 5th, my fiancé, Ryan Cleary, and I were illegally evicted from our home. This occurred despite the extension,  of the eviction ban protections , at both the state and federal level—and the fact that we never received a summons or any kind of official notifications or legal documents from the court or from an attorney. We were also a part of the protection through stay housed LA. 

There should have been a posting on our door notifying us of a sheriffs lockout to happen 5 days after the posting. The management.or the sheriffs did not post anything and we have proof of this as our security cameras record 24/7 and nobody was even close to our door to post anything!  We will use this as evidence at our hearing which we filed and it is coming up on 9/29 at 8:30 am. They tried to underhandedly pull the wool over our eyes but they did not succeed.  We have all of our bases covered. So bazaar how the manager , against strict orders from the sheriffs not to enter our home for 15 days entered against their orders and took our security camera from inside our home. We were made aware of this because our security camera notified us of it being disabled. I wonder what she wanted off that camera so badly it made her go against orders from the sheriffs and steal it. So she trespassed in our home and stole a piece of our property. When we called the police about this they didn’t do anything about it. So unfair. If we did that we would have been arrested!  She apparently has the gift of gab and her lies are believable….pathetic!! 

The manager  terrorized and harassed us trying to force us out of our apartment by turning off the electricity to our unit 2 or 3 times which was documented by the LADWP.  We learned the reason why they wanted us out so bad was to rent it out to another tenant for more money.   We have this documented in an email they sent to us.  Also, I checked on Friday and the DWP has this documented in record.  Wow!!! They are not outsmarting anyone at this point.  She also left an unleashed Rottweiler at our door to prevent our friends from entering and witnessing the nefarious actions set forth by the apartment manager. Trey used black tape to cover our peep hole and our camera in the hallway so we couldn’t see what was going on outside our door. Highly illegal.  Basically holding us against our will in our home.  Don’t get me wrong we did not want to leave nor did we have to by law but we did not want to be held against our will and unable to leave to go to appointments, go to the market to purchase food, we couldn’t even leave to ho for a walk.  It was pure insane behavior!  Of which I have never experienced by an apartment manager ever before.  It was truly frightening!   Our kitty  will never be the same and I know he must have a form of PTSD.  I know for a fact we most definitely are suffering from PTSD because of what was done to us by the manager and the LAPD, who we definitely have a bone to pick with as well.  We have all been traumatized and will never be the same. 

When the sheriffs showed up at our door, they refused to provide the documentation we asked for, as to the reason for their intrusion and we asked for their identification and they did not comply with either requests.  

When we spoke to them about the eviction ban extension they seemed oblivious to this ban.  They were completely ignorant when it came to this information!  I was flabbergasted!  

It is urgent we raise money to go after the manager and management company as well as the LAPD (local police department) as well.  They seemed to think it was ok to steal my fiancés new Rolex watch that I gave him for his Birthday!  We want to get that back from them. How can they get away with this?  We also want all of our personal belongings snd property ,ie; all of our clothing , expensive jewelry, coin and comic collection, one of a kind coffee table books, all of our home furnishings,  not to mention family photos , memoirs and a ton of meaningful, irresponsible items, trinkets and a lot of memories have been wiped from our life. We want everything back and they have to pay for putting us out on the street illegally!  We have had to borrow money to survive. It is insane that they have gotten away with this. Not for long, as our court date was postponed in order for our hired council , to familiarize himself with our case. Our date is set for this Wednesday at 8:30 am. Justice will be served!  

After an eviction landlords are legally required to give tenants 15 days to collect their belongings, but the manager did not give us a chance, entering the apartment before the 15 days had passed and removing our possessions—including much of our documentation of the harassment.  She entered less than 48 hours after they brutally plucked us from our home and threw us out on the street!  A legally disabled person and me as well after just having surgery and unable to walk and was ordered by the doctor not to walk for 10-12weeks and the LAPD forcefully dragged us out harming both of us. 

We have lost everything, including our home. Our civil rights , privacy and freedom were violated  when we were wrongfully and brutally removed and detained by the LAPD.  There was no legal documentation presented, served, posted or mailed to us (Ryan and Loralyn) from the courts.  There was never a document of warning or notification of a Sheriffs lockout mailed, posted 5 days prior or served to us (Ryan and Loralyn) as required by the court.  We have proof they did not as we have security cameras pointing at our apartment door and this shows nothing being posted on our door.  There was never a search warrant presented to us (Ryan and Loralyn) by the LAPD (Los Angeles Police Department).  The illegal search was performed without a search warrant!! This was a Landlord, Tenant dispute for the civil court and was unjustly made into a criminal case because the manager is a smooth talking slum lord who cannot be trusted. She illegally went through all our private and personal property immediately after we were illegally, unjustly and brutally removed. 

We are seeking to raise money to find another place to live as we have exhausted  all personal funds staying in a motel as we have no other place to live in LA while waiting for our court hearing , which we filed against the  manager and management company and we need to raise funds to cover legal costs to fight our illegal removal during a pandemic eviction ban and to take legal action against our former landlord for the illegal abuse we suffered. 

We are pleading for a total amount of 

$17,000.00: 

-$6,000.00 for  1st, last and security 

-$9,000.00 for legal representation

$2,000.00 for temporary lodging, while we search for a new place to live and for food and clothing as we have lost everything we own. Hopefully we get all of our clothing and personal property  back after the hearing on 10/12/2921
