Hi, my name is Jim and I'm here living in Philippines until 1st April. I've tried to help personally and raised funds through friends but this emergency is bigger than I can deal with through friends, hence the GoFundMe appeal.
The Story.
Tropical Storm Basyang has brought severe flooding to parts of Iligan City leaving many families without homes, clean water, food, electricity, and basic necessities.
Entire communities, especially in low lying barangays, are struggling to recover and aid is limited. Immediate needs are urgent and I will do my best to help the local community but I also need your help.
I am raising funds right now to provide direct support to affected families, including emergency food bags, drinking water, hygiene kits, medicines, bedding and basic shelter materials.
Every donation will go toward fast, practical help for people who have lost so much in a short space of time.
Many families had little time to repair. Homes were flooded , belongings destroyed, and livelihoods disrupted. Schools are still closed.
Children and elderly residents are among most vulnerable as when limited aid arrives, the queues fall apart and the greedy push to the front, leaving the vulnerable empty handed.
Your support no matter how small, can make a real difference today.
550pesos / £7 / $10 helps provide emergency food and water
1600pesos / £20 / $25 supports a family relief pack
Larger donations help supply evacuation centres and hardest hit households
I will, post regular updates and photos so you can see exactly how funds are being used and who is being helped.
Transparency and direct impact are my priorities.
Please donate if you can - and just as importantly, please share this campaign so we can reach more people quickly.
The faster we act, the more families we can help.
Thank you in advance for your compassion and generosity.
I will collect funds in a UK account and use a team of local friends to buy in bulk in supermarkets and help distribute like we did at weekend and Monday.
