Iliana and Mary Moody Facing Homelessness
Donation protected
Hi,
My name is Nancy Scott and with my husband Mike and our friend Narmin, we are raising funds for dedicated servants of the Cause who are facing homelessness.
Iliana Moody and her daughter Mary Sullivan, along with Mary’s husband Jay, and her emotional support dog Nala, moved to temporary housing in Claremont, CA, about eight months ago. This happened after Iliana suffered a stroke which left her paralyzed on her left side. Since that time Mary has been providing full-time care for her mother. Jay continues to work at his warehouse job in Pomona.
Iliana, age 70, has made great efforts since her stroke. Yet only with supervision is she just now beginning to walk with a walker. She still does not have use of her left arm. In addition, she suffers from dementia. Despite these challenges she remains cheerful, excessively grateful for small favors, and very much in touch with her sense of humor. She is a joy to be with.
Effective July 8, their temporary lodging is ending. They have been able to save some money during their time at the motel but not enough to move into an apartment by July 8. Their income over-qualifies them for many services. This fact has created innumerable roadblocks for them as Mary diligently tried to find a remedy to their situation. Yet Mary shows indomitable strength of spirit and a remarkable sense of humor.
Many friends in the surrounding communties have given their assistance and prayers to the family. For this we are all profoundly grateful. As their housing voucher comes to an end, it is our hope that friends will be able to offer financial support. Funds collected would be used to cover first and last month’s rent, security deposit, and moving expenses when a place comes available. If there is any extra after these needs are met it will be applied to other living expenses and future rent.
The Moody-Sullivan family would be grateful for any assistance you can provide that would alleviate the stress they are laboring under. No gift is too small and continued prayers are deeply appreciated. Thank you so much for your support.
