IKEA Cardiff IDAHOBIT fundraiser for Umbrella Cymru
IDAHOBIT (International Day Against LGBTQIA+ Discrimination) falls on the 17th May each year and it raises awareness of violence, discrimination towards and repression of LGBTQ communities worldwide. At IKEA, our vision is to create a better everyday life for the many people, therefore we strive to reflect the communities we serve and to ensure that everyone feels welcome and respected. Equality, diversity and inclusion have been fundamental to who we are for decades and is at the heart of our culture and values. We know there is still much work to be done, we will continue focusing on equal opportunities at work, and championing quality at home and in our community. Therefore, this IDAHOBIT day we are fundraising for Umbrella Cymru.
This year Umbrella Cymru celebrated 10 years of supporting LGBTQ+ people in Wales. Umbrella Cymru is a fantastic local charity that specialises in gender and sexual diversity support. They offer safe, non-judgmental, independent support to LGBTQ+ people of all ages in Wales and to those connected to them. Their work includes providing emotional and practical support, information and signposting, listening services and advocacy, supporting with many facets of individuals lives including homelessness and addiction as well as professional support. Their outreach extends to supporting Welsh gender service patients, supporting LGBTQ+ victims of crime, supporting LGBTQ+ young people in schools, identity support and coming out and support to LGBTQ+ people and families. Your donations will help the charity continue their fantastic work in our community.
