Iji Needs Knee Surgery
Tax deductible
Iji, a sweet 10 month old orange tabby, was being fed by one of our volunteer’s neighbors. This adorable boy didn’t want to be outside for long and was so eager to join the Karma Cat + Zen Dog family that he walked right into our volunteer’s home. When Iji came into our care, he was severely underweight and covered in ticks.
Iji was examined by our medical team, and it was obvious that he was malnourished and underdeveloped. He has a very low muscle tone on his back legs and rear end. Our medical team started him on a special feeding plan to slowly increase his calorie intake without shocking his system. The lovable Iji has been eating well and catching up on some much-needed rest.
On April 19th, Iji had an exam with the veterinarian at Edgebrook Animal Hospital where they took x-rays and bloodwork to see what was going on. He was diagnosed with a herniated disc as well as bilateral patellar luxation which basically means his kneecaps pop out of place. Following the vet's recommendation, Iji is scheduled for surgery in June to correct the luxation of his left knee.
For now, Iji is being cared for by his attentive and loving foster dad with guidance from our medical team and is being given supplements to help with his joints. Iji’s medical expenses so far add up to $595. His knee surgery is estimated to cost about $3500. We are so grateful for any amount you can donate towards Iji’s medical bills and care. Thank you in advance from Iji and everyone at Karma Cat + Zen Dog Rescue Society.
