Emily's Story
At the early age of 6 months old Emily was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis. As just a small infant Emily's fight began and her parents worse nightmare was playing out before their eyes as they watched their brand new baby girl struggle just to breathe. Most of us can't imagine what it is like to have to watch your child struggle for something that is otherwise so simple and effortless as taking a breath. Emily has never known a normal life. She has never been able to run and play like other children because one afternoon of playing normal meant a long stay in the hospital for her. For her everyday is a challenge just to function in some capacity. She has spent a very big part of her short life in hospitals isolated from the normal life that we all know and maybe take for granted because these things can be life treatening to her. Emily has grown accustomed to watching her siblings play and participate in activities that she knows she will never be able to do but is eager to support them from a window view. Emily has proven to be a very strong and courageous little girl and one who always looks at her glass half full despite the difficulties she faces daily. Emily is now a lovely 16 year old young lady and has defeated the odds against this terrible disease so far. Emily's parents were told she would probably not live to see her 7th birthday but Emily proved them wrong and continues to fight a good fight. This fight comes at a heavy cost though physically, mentally and financially for this family. Due to all of the extended hospitals stays, medication cost and the extra epenses it takes for them to stay with Emily during these stays, has caused a huge financial burden on this family and one that no parent should have to worry about when their child is fighting for their life. Please find it in your heart to give to this family in need. Share Emily's story with your family and friends and let's make a difference. I know a lot of us look for ways to help during the holiday seasons and what could be a better cause than giving life to child in need. Your not just giving money, your giving hope, stability and most impotant love to a family during a time that is greatly needed.
