Since returning home on May 1, Mom was hoping to recover soon. She tried to feel better; slowing walking throughout her home and practicing her breathing exercises, but chest and back pain continued, and breathing only became more difficult.
An X-ray revealed fluid build-up in her lung, and after seeing her doctors, it was recommended that she visit the hospital to determined the next steps.
Mom was admitted into methodist hospital on Monday, May 18. It was also determined her lung had collapsed. Since then, she has had a Thoracentesis, which after a few days wasn't as successful as doctors had hoped, followed by Thoracoscopy Surgery.
Mom is currently at Methodist Hospital. We're hoping for some good news tomorrow, as we look for her being discharged soon.
____________
On Monday, April 13, Michelle Rodriguez tested for COVID-19. Not even 24 hours had passed when the result came back Positive. Three days later, she sought out medical attention due to an increasing level of chest pain and other symptoms and visited Methodist Hospital in San Antonio, Texas. She was immediately admitted on Monday, April 20. A CT-scan discovered that COVID-19 compromised her heart, revealing 4 blocked arteries with over 90% blockage. That’s when the doctors tried to preform a percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), a stent, but those results would determine a more serious procedure. To allow a long range quality of life, it was decided that Quadruple Bypass Heart Surgery would be necessary.
The quadruple bypass was preformed on Friday, April 24. Besides a few complications post-surgery, the surgery was successful and she is now recovering. Doctors considered her “A Pioneer,” as she was their first patient to have undergone quadruple bypass heart surgery as a direct complication of COVID-19. The road to full recovery will be a long journey, as there will be major lifestyle adjustments. But now Michelle will once again, get to live life with a healthy heart.
With hospital bills adding up, any way you can help Michelle is greatly appreciated. Updates will be posted as they become available.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
