Igor's Medical Emergency: A Cry for Financial Aid
Donation protected
***MOST RECENT UPDATE***
Igor is stable enough to stay at home now under constant supervision.
He is feeling better with meds for pain management and to calm inflammation in his intestines. We have managed to avoid surgery at this point and will be pursuing other options and following a process of elimination to find the root of the problem. This will hopefully be much less invasive for Igor and more cost affective than biopsies, although it will take longer to figure out exactly what's happening.
Should his health decline in any way we will have to reconsider the option to do biopsy surgery.
Thanks everyone for donating! You have all helped our little family so much during this emergency. Igor has a smile on his face today, and has managed to drink some water for the first time since coming off of his IV.
Much love ❤️
***UPDATE***
**Igor has spent over 24 hours in the hospital and is rehydrated with IV and feeling perkier with some pain medication and anti-nausea. We still don't have clear answers on what is happening or what the next steps will be. All we know as of now is that the ultrasound shows major inflammation in a section of his intestines. For the first 24 hours of hospital treatment the bill is over $2500, this is not including the previous bill from the first vet we saw before going to the emergency vet. We have seen multiple vets now to get a second opinion, and have been allowed to bring him home for the night to monitor him and treat him in a space he feels safe since he is in a stable position with his hydration.
Right now we know for sure: his bowels are inflamed, his lymph nodes are swollen, signs are not pointing to IBD, his bloodwork is clear,
He does not have leukemia.
Most likely: ate something bad that has caused this.
What it means having him home overnight:
If he does not show improvement in 24 hours, gets worse at any time, or doesn't fully recover in 3-4 days, full thickness biopsies will be needed for further evaluation, he will need to go back on IV.
If he shows signs of major improvement at home: we will need follow up appointments periodically to check his vitals and have more ultrasounds to make sure inflammation is going down. But in this case we may not get a clear answer on what caused this in the first place. This is still best case scenario!
The major surgery is not being recommended by the second vet, as they cannot see anything obvious blocking his intestines!!!
Though we are unaware if he will need the evaluative surgery at this time, and are awaiting more details and keeping a close eye on him for improvements.
Thank you everyone so much for your kindness ❤️ Igor and I are so appreciative.**
Hello compassionate friends,
It's Ocea, and I find myself reaching out to you in a moment of desperation. My beloved 2.5-year-old fur baby, Igor, has been my anchor through thick and thin, especially since emerging from a major depressive episode two years ago. He is not just a pet; he's my child and one of my dearest friends.
In the past four days, Igor's health has taken a sudden turn for the worse. He's unable to eat or drink, and it has led to an emergency situation. The heartbreaking news is that the recommended emergency exams and surgeries come with a hefty cost of up to $10,000, with only $3,000 covered. Igor's life hangs in balance, and I am seeking your support to cover at least a portion of the remaining estimated $7,000 for further exams, hospital treatments, potential surgery and recovery.
Your contribution will not only help save Igor's life but will also ensure that we can continue our journey together. If, by some miracle, I can cover the entire amount, it would mean that Igor won't have to be surrendered to the SPCA. I am still awaiting updates from the emergency vet, and I will keep you posted as new information unfolds.
Please, let's come together to give Igor the fighting chance he deserves to stay with his loving family. Your kindness can make all the difference.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart,
Ocea
