Ignacio Giraldo, from Sunrise, Fl,  was visiting the North Carolina High Country to see his daughter (Juliana Cauley) and her family.  An avid cyclist, he always enjoyed riding while in the mountains.
Ignacio was riding with his daughter on October 10th when a vehicle crossed the double yellow line and hit him head on.  Airlifted to a nearby level one trauma center, he passed away two days after being run over by the van.
A driver has been charged with felony hit and run, as they offered no assistance at the scene, leaving Ignacio's daughter, Juliana, with her father as the driver sped away.
There may be additional ways to help over the upcoming weeks, but this financial campaign is to assist Ignacio's family immediately in whatever way they deem most helpful.  There will be a strong desire for justice, which will require significant funds.  The Boone, NC and surrounding area cyclists hope to assist this family in any and every manner possible in this quest for justice.  We hope you will help our cause.
