Every once in a while in life you meet an animal that you feel like you connect with and understands you on a level that is hard to describe. Iggy has been a member of the family since 2012 and has brought us so many laughs and joy in his 7 years on earth. Unfortunately, when arriving home from work on 6/11 Derrick & Maggie found Iggy paralyzed from the waist down unable to stand or walk. This was completely sudden and Iggy had had no history of medical issues.
Derrick & Maggie carried Iggy to the car and rushed Iggy to the emergency vet in South Deerfield MA. After a brief exam, the team there recommended Iggy be taken to Tufts Veterinary hospital in North Grafton MA immediately as he was displaying neurological disconnect.
Derrick & Maggie immediately rushed Iggy to Tufts and after a long an scary night Iggy was diagnosed with a herniated disc in his lower lumbar portion of his spine causing pressure on his spinal cord which paralyzed his limbs.
Luckily, the vet had an optimistic outlook and said the surgery to repair his disc has a 90% success rate so Iggy can go on to live a normal life again and regain use of his legs.
The MRI, multiple exams and now his surgery has been quoted to cost $7,000. Iggy has come out of surgery tonight on 6/12 and they will be keeping him at Tufts for 5-7 days.
Any help you can give to Maggie & Derrick would help them immensely. They are on a very tight budget and have been forced to take out multiple credit cards to fund Iggy's medical expenses. They love their dog and did right by him but set their finances back in the process. Thank you for taking the time to read this and thank you for anything you can contribute.
