iGEM 2025 - CoL2025

Our team is focussed on developing a diagnostic tool for cryptosporidiosis—a parasitic disease which affects millions—whose current diagnostic tool has a sensitivity of only 40%. Our initiative is incredibly important as cryptosporidiosis mainly affects young children, and unnecessary deaths are caused as people cannot get treatment in time due to poor diagnostic methods.

In previous years, our team has won multiple gold medals, including for ‘Project Ribotox’, where we developed a diagnostic tool for Pre-eclampsia.

Funding would be used to purchase necessary biological parts for our project, as well as for competition fees, outreach resources, etc. Without this crucial funding we will be unable to fulfil our goal of completing our research into this much needed diagnostic tool that could help save thousands (if not millions) of lives.
