Anyone who has had the pleasure of meeting my dad knows that he is more than Vancouver’s “Good Samaritan.” He is a loving and devoted husband, a strong and supportive father, and a fun-loving and caring friend. He is one of the most hard-working and selfless men that I have ever known. In addition to continuously supporting his family, he gives much of his time and energy working with the The Rotary Club of Greater Clark County; collecting and donating food and money, as well as helping to provide shelter to those most in need.
Knowing what kind of a wonderful man my dad is, and how he truly enjoys helping those around him, it is not surprising to hear that he risked his life to save another. On the foggy morning of Sunday, December 7th, my dad stopped to help care for a hit and run victim on the highway. While he was checking on the driver of the wrecked vehicle, the unthinkable happened when another car collided with the already totaled vehicle – causing both cars to crash into my dad. Left with a fractured spine, internal bleeding, and unknown brain damage, my dad is currently fighting for his life in the ICU of a local hospital.
Because life is sometimes full of too many surprises, my parents have already depleted their emergency savings to cover costs from my father’s open heart surgery from the previous year. While my mom is equally as strong and hardworking, she will struggle to cover my dad’s medical expenses and/or cover their current cost of living. I ask, as a thank you to my dad for his never-ending kindness, that you help my family in this time of need. Donate anything that you can, and if you can’t donate, please share this page with others and spread the word. It is overwhelmingly amazing to see all of the lives that my dad has touched as you come together to show your support. We love and thank each and every one of you.
Sincerely,
Carrie Curtin
