As most of you know, in May of 2012, Keri was diagnosed with stage IIIC High Grade Serous Ovarian Cancer. After extensive cancer removal surgery, and five months of chemotherapy, Keri was declared "in remission". Unfortunately, the joyful news was temporary, and just 5 months later, she found that her cancer had not only returned, it was stronger. What this means for her, is that her cancer is now classified as "Platinum Resistant." Basically, the most effective chemotherapy drugs just do not work. Instead of giving up in the face of such adversity, Keri has found her purpose. She has become a tireless advocate for awareness and early detection of Ovarian Cancer, which is the key to successfully beating this insidious disease. Keri has done Ovarian Cancer walks, her closet is full of teal outfits, and her hair is even the color teal in support of Ovarian Cancer Awareness. Not only does Keri pass out cards for awareness, she meets with newly diagnosed women in the hospital to offer her support and advice for combatting this disease. She has worked so hard, and we are so proud to announce that Keri has been selected to be an advocate for the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance to U.S. House of Representatives, TX district 2, in Washington D.C. The purpose of this trip is to get in front of our representatives and advocate for funding in research and awareness. Keri has impacted so many people around her, so let’s send her to Washington to continue her journey as a dedicated advocate for ovarian cancer.
