Right before his death, Manuel had been finalizing his application to the International Dreamers Scholarship Fund , a scholarship created for and inspired by dreamers like Manuel. He was working in construction to pay for his first semester at Kingsborough Community College, where he was scheduled to begin classes this upcoming spring.
Manuel's end goal was to become a scientist. The scholarship would have made all the difference in helping him to enroll in college. In fact, the scholarship committee went out of its way to get Manuel to apply for the scholarship because they saw so much promise in him.
In remembrance of Manuel, a number of Manuel's classmates, teachers, and friends would like to request donations made in Manuel's name to fund ONE year at CUNY for a persevering student with dreams as big as Manuel's.
Manuel was one of the greatest supporters of the scholarship fund. From saving the life of man in a river in Honduras, to tutoring struggling students, he was known for his generosity.
All donations made through this campaign will be made to honor Manuel de Jesus Garcia.
