If You Give a Girl a Candle Short Film

After many years spent directing school projects, home videos, and dance recitals, I'm so excited to make my directorial debut, If You Give A Girl A Candle. (!!)
LOGLINE: In a desperate attempt to be well-liked, Cindy (23) lights a magic candle that’s only successful at bringing her self-absorbed fears to life.
The 21st century is an era of anxiety—but those of us who suffer from the generational ailment know that Lexapro and Willow, the therapist who diagnosed you with the mental illness that got you Lexapro, are not strong enough to fight the demons of our early 20s.
Some people turn to religion. Others turn to grad school. Then, of course, there are the freaks who turn to witchcraft.
In a world where social media conceals how people really live and what we actually think of each other, magic provides solace to the anxious and depressed. Or, so we let ourselves think.
This project explores a common theme—the confusion and isolation of being in your 20s—through an extremist, magical lens.
Everyone wants to be liked. Everyone wants to prove they are a good person. But how far will you go to quell the voices that say: maybe you’re not who you think you are?
In order to create this film, we need help with raising funds that will go directly towards camera equipment, crew, post-production costs (editing, music, color grading), food, and production design.
My overall project budget is $10,000, however, I will be contributing to it as well and need to raise $8,000 more. I hope you will help bring this film to fruition. Thank you for the support!
If you are interested in learning more about the project please look at the deck.
