We’ve all heard it before: “If you don’t like America, then leave.”
Cool. Challenge accepted.
The thing is… moving countries isn’t as easy as packing a suitcase and calling an Uber. Canada doesn’t just wave you in at the border with a Tim Hortons gift card (unfortunately). It takes thousands of dollars, stacks of paperwork, and a decent cushion to prove you can actually stay afloat once you get there.
Why Canada?
Universal healthcare that won’t cost me a kidney.
A country that invests in people’s well-being.
A shot at stability, sanity, and maybe even poutine-fueled happiness.
The Goal
I’m raising $40,000 to cover:
Immigration fees & legal stuff (~$2,000)
Proof-of-funds Canada requires (~$15,000)
Flights, moving costs, and setup (~$5,000–$10,000)
Housing, deposits, and basic “not-starving” money (~$10,000+)
A buffer so I don’t land in Canada broke on day one
Why Ask Here?
Because every time someone says “If you hate it here, then leave,” I figure—why not give them the opportunity to literally fund that exit strategy? You said it, I’m doing it. Put your money where your mouth is.
The Deal
If you’ve ever wanted someone like me to “just leave already,” here’s your chance. If you believe people should be free to start over in a place that fits them better, here’s your chance too.
Either way, your donation isn’t just money—it’s fuel for a one-way ticket out of here and into a new life in Canada.
Thanks for helping me turn a snarky phrase into an actual life move.
