Kacie Kerlec was not just a mother. She was a beacon of light in the lives of everyone who knew her. With her charismatic personality, infectious laughter and unwavering dedication, she touched the hearts of everyone around her. A devoted mother to Kane (who turns 7 on December 21st) and little Krue (who is only one), Kacie poured her love into her family and her community. For 20 years she inspired countless children as an adored teacher at Bonne Ecole Elementary. She earned the title of Teacher of the Year multiple times. Her natural ability to connect with others and foster meaningful relationships was a gift that will NEVER be forgotten.
Yet, behind her vibrant spirit, Kacie battled a darkness that many couldn’t see or ever imagine possible. The truth is, mental illness doesn’t discriminate. It can affect anyone, regardless of their outward happiness or success. In 2022, Kacie endured the heartbreak of losing two babies before conceiving her precious son, Krue. Her battle with anxiety and depression crept up during that pregnancy and despite the love and support from DJ, her family and close friends, the weight of her struggles became overwhelming.
After welcoming Krue into the world, we slowly started to see her sparkle again and FINALLY there was hope! Just 7 months ago she said, “I’m finally back to myself. It’s like a black cloud lifted.” But on October 14th, tragedy struck once more. Kacie and DJ received the devastating news that DJ’s parents had both tragically passed away. This unimaginable loss shook their world to its core and while they tried to remain strong for their boys, it plunged Kacie back into a darkness that she felt was impossible to escape.
Over the last month Kacie’s mental health deteriorated and despite seeking help from multiple medical professionals, she struggled finding the help she needed. The reality of her pain became too much to bear, and on Tuesday, December 17th, we lost Kacie—a mother, a friend, and a beloved member of our community.
As we navigate this heartbreaking loss, we want to honor Kacie’s memory by supporting her family through the unexpected financial burden that this tragedy has left behind. This campaign aims to assist DJ, Kane and Krue by providing financial support for immediate needs and future stability, ensuring they have the resources necessary to navigate this difficult time.
Please join us in celebrating Kacie’s life and helping to secure a brighter future for Kane and Krue. Your contributions, no matter the size, will make a meaningful difference in their lives and honor the incredible woman Kacie was. Let’s come together to show them that they are surrounded by love, just as Kacie always wanted.
Thank you for your kindness, support, and for keeping Kacie’s spirit alive in our heart.
