Morris & Morris: Attorneys at Law* hereby petitions the court of public opinion for financial assistance in getting to Ann Arbor, Michigan for the Yes Ann Improv Festival.

If you aren't one of our friends or family reading this (thank you, friends and family who are reading this): We're a Seattle-based improv duo, comprised of the parties Raynee Morris and Tristan Morris, not related. We make up true crime investigation dramas inspired by the real (for the purposes of any cops reading this: NOT real) crimes committed by the audience.

We've done this many times at various Pacific Northwest festivals, in indie shows at theaters across Washington, and even a couple times in Utah and Idaho. We are, in the estimation of our peers and festival runners, good at this.

Unfortunately, we are less good at affording plane tickets.

This year, we were accepted to perform at the Yes Ann Improv Fest in Ann Arbor, which is, genuinely, a big deal for us. It's our first time traveling across more than one time zone to perform, and we'll be sharing space with some of our favorite improvisers and teachers, doing the thing we love, in a new city, with new people watching. But travel, lodging, and transportation all add up quickly, and food also exists and requires money. And despite the fact that it's in the show name, we don't have "lawyer money".

By a rough estimation, we're looking at $1,100 in plane tickets, $500 in lodging, Ubers or a rental car to get to Ann Arbor from Detroit, and the other associated costs (like food) stacking up to almost $2,000. That's a pretty penny for two people doing this for the love of the game.

We're not asking you to fund our lifestyle (though we are open to taking on wealthy patrons if you're interested), but we are asking you to fund our art, which is more important to us.

If you've come to one of our shows, shared a laugh with friends, and maybe got some non-binding legal advice along the way, we love you and we want to bring that experience you had to more people. If you're just here to show some support for a thing that sounds cool, we appreciate you. If we surpass our goals and the needed funds, everything extra will go into a fund for future travels, shows, and helping other improvisers make it to THEIR dream festival.

We promise to perform like your support is what got us there (because that's absolutely what got us there).

The defense rests.
