Hello!
I’m Veronica Hudson. I hope all is well! Thank you so much for taking the time and interest in visiting this page. I’m a percussionist and composer with 15 years of experience. I’m trying to raise funds to support and sustain repairs for my instrument(s) to continue to perform beautiful melodies throughout the city of Brotherly Love.
For the past two years I’ve been venturing on the journey of being a full-time musician—sustaining my way of life solely through gigging, street performing, and teaching music. In choosing this life of music, it has been absolutely rewarding, as well as unpredictable, and becomes overwhelmingly expensive because of life’s inevitable uncertainty.
Coming into the New Year, I have experienced gains and financial loss with caring for my instrument. The silver keys on the vibraphone (the metal pieces that resemble a piano) and several pairs of my mallets were stolen. Currently through the graciousness of a marching band in Delaware, I’m borrowing a gold set of keys that have to be returned at their request. A friend has also allowed me to borrow a pair of mallets that have to be returned as well. The pedal has recently snapped. It now has to be held together with metal wire in order for it to work. The vibe also needs miscellaneous parts and repairs so it can stand up straight, instead of lean, with pressure on its vintage parts.
It has taken a lot for me to ask for the need for help. Thank you for taking the time to view my page. Unfortunately, I must rent the vibraphone because this instrument can range from $4k-$10k. The goal is to work hard and save for repairs on the current vibraphone, with intent to purchase my own. With the unfortunate loss of the rented keys due to theft, my goal is pushed back, but not defeated. As the costs of repairs keep adding up as life keeps moving along, it feels nearly impossible to do it alone. I’m requesting help from the community to financially aid and/or service in continuing this journey of my musical life.
