This Won’t Leave Me Alone

This isn’t a project.
It’s not a “piece” in the clean, presentable way.

But it's a deep dive into my reality

underneath everything is this very simple, very inconvenient truth:

I’d always rather be dancing.

The version where it’s uncomfortable.
Where I don’t have control.
Where I can’t hide.

So this is me walking back into that.

Not alone.
But with Micky, an unreal performer but we don't know each other well in life nor in movement.

Which is the point.

I wanted this to feel real.
Like two people figuring it out while you’re watching.
Not performing understanding — actually trying to understand.

We’re making a duet.

There’s talking.
There’s silence.
There’s dancing that isn’t set because it can’t be.

There’s structure, but only enough so everything doesn’t fall apart completely.

It’s messy.
It’s going to stay messy.

Because the thing I keep coming back to is that nothing feels resolved right now.

Not the world.
Not our lives.
Not even our relationship to this truth.

And I’m not interested in pretending otherwise.

I’m interested in what happens when you stay inside that discomfort long enough that something honest starts to come out.

The moments where you almost connect.
The moments where you completely miss each other.
The weird closeness between laughing and wanting to cry.
The fact that sometimes the only thing that makes sense is to keep moving your body because everything else is too much.

It keeps landing in the same place no matter how we come at it:

We would rather be dancing.

We’re building this fast.

April 23 — first showing
A small room.
No distance.
No hiding.

Late June — a real run
More built out.
Still honest.
Just bigger lungs.

And then we’re turning it into a film.
Not documentation.
Something that can live on its own.

If this hits something in you..

don’t overthink it.

That’s the same feeling that started this.

You are helping create the conditions for something honest to exist. Something that might make someone feel a little less alone in their own experience. And that matters more than anything.
