My name is Rabbi Ephraim Palgon. A former student of mine, most recently a commander of special forces in the IDF in Gaza, raced from United States to Israel the moment the war broke out, to help fight for klal yisroel. He was in the reserves but went back to be with his unit even before he was called. He spent 10 weeks in Gaza, sometimes behind enemy lines in the most dangerous of situations. He inspired his entire unit to say tehillim, wear tzitzis, some even tefillin. Bli ayin hora, not one member of his high risk unit was hurt. He just arrived back home in Florida and - quite uncomfortably - shared with me that he does not have any funds to manage on his own. He did not receive any funds in Israel and even his air travel to and from Israel were out of pocket. He is extremely proud and has great humilty.
