My name is Idah Kaari Riungu and I live in Meru, Kenya. I have asked my daughter, Pamela Cummings, to create this fund for me because I have a very big problem.  I recently lost my husband to cancer after we battled that disease together.  I then lost my father-in-law and both of my parents.  And now I face the challenge of my life as I have been diagnosed with a heart condition called mitral valve regurgitation.  I must get a pacemaker installed in order to stabilize the problem.  Further surgery including valve repair or replacement may then be needed.  In Nairobi, Kenya, the pacemaker device alone costs $15,000 USD so possibly $30,000 USD or more will be needed for surgery, hospital and doctor costs. 

I have four adult children and six young grandchildren who depend on me.  I devoted my life to teaching children at my local elementary/primary school, leading in my church and raising my children and grandchildren.  I am no longer able to teach students, raise grandchildren or tend to my garden with my heart problem. 

It is my wish that I was not in this situation.  Although I would prefer not to ask for help, I must ask so that the urgently needed surgery occurs before my heart fails.  I am looking to raise $30,000 for through GoFundMe so that I can get back to my normal life which the pacemaker promises.
