Big Tiny from New Orleans Needs Your Help
Hello all - This is Barry Roberts, and I am trying to help my former employee and now friend Big Tiny, also known as Charles, who lost almost everything he had during Hurricane Ida in New Orleans. I picked him up from a rain soaked apartment with a trash bag full of wet clothes and brought him to stay with us in Atlanta while electricity was being restored.
I have been mentoring and witnessing toTiny for more than 10 years, and he is a believer. Tiny is on disability as he suffers with diabetes and other respiratory issues. He is renting from a woman who also suffered severe damage to her own home, so he needs to get back ASAP to see if he can patch his roof and attempt clean up. As you can imagine, material, trucks and used furniture are at a premium and hard to find in New Orleans.
While we are able to help him with some recovery items, we need to find him an inexpensive used truck so that we can send him back with a tarp, bed, sofa and other necessary personal items. The amount we are seeking will go to purchasing a truck and whatever furniture items we can buy with what is left. In New Orleans, Tiny has been without a car for some time and has relied on a few friends for transportation, but some of them are moving on and are also suffering loss. Tiny walked to a convenience store for his groceries, but that is now closed from the storm and not sure if it will reopen, so a vehicle is an absolute need for him to get to doctor appointments, and even places where relief agencies have set up as they were too far for him to walk.
Never have the words "every little bit helps" been so true. Tiny lives with the barest of minimum needs, and we are only seeking to help get him the basics so that he can move forward. Tiny needs a lot of guidance, so donations will come to me so that I can manage and help him with getting what he needs. I assure you that we want to take good care of Tiny as he really has no one else. Thank you for any help you can give him.
